Winter Storm Rages Through California

By: Jackson Rushing

A winter storm hit Southern California hard last Thursday and worsened through Friday. The storm, which created blizzard conditions in the Sierra Nevada and Transverse mountain ranges and torrential rain in Los Angeles and other areas, is one of the worst seen in years. Jackie Ruiz, the public information officer for the Santa Barbara County Office of Emergency Management even said, “If you don’t have to go out, stay home.” The unprecedented storm has brought blizzard and avalanche warnings; the National Weather Service had to post an infographic about the different snow types being experienced. This storm was expected to end after a few days, however, forecasters from all different Weather Offices in California expect another one early this week.
