Q: How long of a leave would you like to take?
A: “Right now it looks like I will be taking four weeks off in December/January, and then maybe two or three weeks off sometime in April.”
Q: What do you want to name the baby?
A: “Currently our top four names are: Alina, Waverly, Marilyn, or Kaylani
*note: they named the baby Alina!
Q: What did you have for dinner last night?
A: “Last night was a little weird, I had a giant lunch when I got home, so for dinner I ended up just having a protein shake after my workout.”
Q: What do you expect your classes (including economics) to know by the end of the year, even with you being gone?
A: “For English I expect students to be able to compose an analytical essay about any piece of literature that I give them in which they can articulate a clear argument, support that argument with appropriate evidence, and provide analytical and interpretative insight to support their position. For economics, I expect students to understand the foundational concepts of economics and be able to apply them in thinking about micro and macroeconomics issues in the world.”
Q: Do you have a favorite substitute teacher you would want to have teach your class?
A: “No. It's pretty rare for me to be absent so I don't really know any of the particular substitutes too well. I'm not too concerned about who the substitute is because the students in all of my classes are great and have a general interest in learning and reading, so I know they'll be okay while I am gone.”
Q: On a scale of 1-10, how are you in general?
A: “I suppose a 9, I'm very excited but of course there are also some nerves about starting a family. Everyone keeps telling me at the beginning with a new baby I won't be getting any sleep.”
